Sanctuary Open for Prayer

The church sanctuary is open to the public for prayer and/or quiet reflection on Wednesdays from noon to 1 pm. You are invited to take advantage of this time if you are in town during the week, and please let your friends know also. Years ago churches were open during the week for anyone to wander in to pray, however now, because of safety concerns, most churches stay locked. We would like the community to know we are an active and "alive" church and offer this opportunity to anyone who needs a quiet space, even if it is only for one hour a week. Please share with your friends and family.

Make a Difference!

Give to a Mission

A variety of missions are supported in our church. You can make a difference both locally and around the world by giving to these missions. A list of missions we support is posted in the Fellowship Room. You can also suggest a new mission that interests you by providing the name and address of the mission, as well as some details about what this particular mission does. Thank you for your continued support! If you have any questions, please see a member of the Missions Team or call the church office.

2017 Youth/Adult Mission Trip

We are looking for volunteers to go with us for this fun and eventful week. We leave on Sunday, July 9th and return on Saturday, July 15th. To sign up, please speak with Pastor Bob. Stretch yourself to get involved. It will be a trip you won't soon forget!

Salvation Army Used Clothing and Household Goods Drive

The Salvation Army in our community has asked for our help once again. There has been a significant decrease in donor donations that support our Salvation Army thrift stores and community programs in our county. It is a great opportunity to declutter those full closets and cupboards, as well as a conscious way to dispose of unwanted goods in a manner that helps struggling families in our community. What can you donate? We're collecting the following items in well-tied garbage bags: used clothing of all kinds, shoes, purses, belts as well as bed and bath linens. We're also collecting the following household items in boxes: dishes, pots, pans, vases, decorative knick knacks, jewelry and glassware. Any furniture or larger donations can be scheduled for prompt home pick up by calling 1-800-SA-TRUCK. Donations will be gratefully accepted here at SUMC on Sunday, May 21 from 8am to 12pm. Please leave your donations in the Scout Room. This is a drive that everyone can feel good about supporting; knowing that your used goods are getting a second life through reuse by those most in need in our community!

Missions Team Updates and Events

Baby Bottle Boomerang Bottles are available in the back of the sanctuary and in the Fellowship Room. Please fill a bottle with loose change, bills or a check made payable to "Pregnancy Resource Center" and return the bottle to church by Father's Day - June 18. Questions? Please see a member of the Missions Team or contact the church office. Father's Day Booklets - names will be taken after services. $2.00 per name, in honor of or in memory of. Save the Date - Annual Missions Yard Sale - Friday, August 4 and Saturday, August 5. Cards are available in the Fellowship Room that you can take and put on your fridge or calendar at home as a reminder. Collection of yard sale items has begun. Please bring your items in and leave them in the Blue Room downstairs. It would be helpful to mark the contents of boxes and bags - dishes, glasses, knick knacks, etc. No clothing or books. No TV's, computers, printers, etc. Only bring in items that you no longer want but you think someone else would. Most importantly, please make sure what you bring in is clean and in good condition.
