Gather

This Sunday

This Sunday starts a new sermon series Lessons from Veggies Tales. The first in the series will be Larry Boy and The Rumor Weed. We can learn alot about morals from these cute cartoon videos. We hope you and your children will join us on Sunday for this fun and valuable sermon series!

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner Update

The dinner was a huge success! In just two hours we raised $900.00 for our bell tower repair fund! Thank you to everyone who came out to support this fundraiser. We will definitely be doing another one! Thank you to everyone who helped out in ANY way the day of and leading up to the event.

Mission Trip to West Virginia - Updates

Pastor Bob will hold a Q&A session about our upcoming work trip to West Virginia. We will meet after church at 9:45 am and 12:15 pm on Sunday, July 3. Bob will cover some of the basic information on the trip and you will have an opportunity to ask questions about it. If you have any interest at all in attending this trip, please come to this Q&A and bring your questions. Bring a friend, too! A more detailed information session will be held about the work trip on Wednesday, July 6th starting at 7:00 pm here at the church. We will work out our travel arrangements, share information about the work we will be doing, talk about our schedule and much more. If you are attending the work trip, this session will help you make you final arrangements for packing and get us all ready for the trip.

New Youth Director

Bill Hardy has been hired as our new Youth Director. Please give Bill a warm welcome when you see him. Thank you! Please note there will be Youth Group meetings on Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm.

SUMC on Google for Business

Now when you search for SUMC using Google (or when potential visitors are looking for a church in the area) our website address, photos and information about our church comes up. Please take some time this week to check it out and write a review about your SUMC experience for others in our community to see. Let people know we are an active church! Spread the word!

Pastor Bob's Blog

Pastor Bob has started blogging once again: https://bobshank.wordpress.com/

Table Project

Table Project is an online church software program that allows church members and friends to sit at a virtual table. One cool feature is that we can post prayer requests on the table and others can respond by praying for the person. When the prayer is prayed, you can indicate that the person has been prayed for on the page and a running count of how many prayers were lifted up! Another feature allows Small Groups to stay connected privately among themselves and only themselves. The leaders of the Small Groups will have the option of opening their Table page to everyone or just those who are members of their Small Group. If the group is private then no one else sees their content. A feature I really like is called Serve. Here we can post the different volunteer needs we have in the church. We can explain in detail what the need is and people can sign up to volunteer for this specific need. Pretty cool, huh? I believe our new Stroudsburg UMC Table Project will be helpful to us on a number of levels to stay connected with one another. Go to this new page and sign up today! Then fill out your profile and start exploring the content we already started. Add some content of your own: prayer requests, volunteer opportunities, etc.

Weekly sermons at SUMC

Do you enjoy listening to the weekly sermons here at SUMC? Would you like to listen to them even when you are on vacation or out of town? Well, we do have all the sermons available for you to listen to and they are typically posted to our church website each Sunday. And if you have an iPod or iPad, you can subscribe to the sermons so they will automatically be downloaded to your device for easy listening! To sign up for the automatic feed, go to our sermon page: http://www.stroudsburgumc.com/SUMCNeweSermons.html and then click on the iTunes logo. This will connect you to our iTunes page where you can listen to the sermons or view them in iTunes where you can sign up for the automatic feed. Share this link with your friends and family members. We hope you enjoy this way of staying connected to our sermons here at SUMC.

Live streaming worship at 8:30 am!

We are still live streaming 8:30 worship. This means that when you cannot be here physically for worship due to illness or vacation, you can still worship with us here at Stroudsburg UMC! Here is the link: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/stroudsburg-umc-worship In an effort to help make live streaming look better, we are asking the 8:30 worshippers to move forward instead of sitting in the back of the church. Your willingness to move forward will help viewers at home see that we actually do have people in worship, instead of them seeing all the empty pews toward the front of the sanctuary. Please help us to enhance this new feature of worship by moving forward and sitting in the front of the sanctuary. This will also leave the prized back seats for our visitors! Thank you for your cooperation.

Our Special Member of the Week:

Susan Sheeley, Getz's Personal Care Home, 1026 Scenic Drive, Route 534 in Jonas, Kunkletown, PA 18058. Please remember her in prayer and if possible, please send a card.

Vendors Needed

Saturday, November 5, 2016 - "Holly Day Market"! 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. We have 24 vendors lined up so far and are still looking for more! Spread the word! Maybe you know someone who wants to participate. This year in addition to hand crafted items we are expanding and will have items being sold by independent distributors such as Avon, Longaberger Baskets, Pampered Chef, etc. Be on the lookout for more updates on these and other upcoming events being held in our church! Proceeds from the sale of vendor table space for the Holly Day Market will be put toward the remaining bill for our bell tower repair project. Any questions, please call the church office.
