This Sunday

This Sunday is Martin Luther King, Jr., Sunday. Pastor Bob's message this week is "Dreams of Equality". Come join us this Sunday!

Table Project

Table Project is an online church software program that allows church members and friends to sit at a virtual table. One cool feature is that we can post prayer requests on the table and others can respond by praying for the person. When the prayer is prayed, you can indicate that the person has been prayed for on the page and a running count of how many prayers were lifted up! Another feature allows Small Groups to stay connected privately among themselves and only themselves. The leaders of the Small Groups will have the option of opening their Table page to everyone or just those who are members of their Small Group. If the group is private then no one else sees their content. A feature I really like is called Serve. Here we can post the different volunteer needs we have in the church. We can explain in detail what the need is and people can sign up to volunteer for this specific need. Pretty cool, huh? I believe our new Stroudsburg UMC Table Project will be helpful to us on a number of levels to stay connected with one another. Go to this new page and sign up today! Then fill out your profile and start exploring the content we already started. Add some content of your own: prayer requests, volunteer opportunities, etc. Join our interactive online Bible Study on Monday evenings at 7:00 pm! Follow this link:

Weekly sermons at SUMC

Do you enjoy listening to the weekly sermons here at SUMC? Would you like to listen to them even when you are on vacation or out of town? Well, we do have all the sermons available for you to listen to and they are typically posted to our church website each Sunday. And if you have an iPod or iPad, you can subscribe to the sermons so they will automatically be downloaded to your device for easy listening! To sign up for the automatic feed, go to our sermon page: and then click on the iTunes logo. This will connect you to our iTunes page where you can listen to the sermons or view them in iTunes where you can sign up for the automatic feed. Share this link with your friends and family members. We hope you enjoy this way of staying connected to our sermons here at SUMC.

Live streaming worship at 8:30 am!

We are still live streaming 8:30 worship. This means that when you cannot be here physically for worship due to illness or vacation, you can still worship with us here at Stroudsburg UMC! Here is the link: In an effort to help make live streaming look better, we are asking the 8:30 worshippers to move forward instead of sitting in the back of the church. Your willingness to move forward will help viewers at home see that we actually do have people in worship, instead of them seeing all the empty pews toward the front of the sanctuary. Please help us to enhance this new feature of worship by moving forward and sitting in the front of the sanctuary. This will also leave the prized back seats for our visitors! Thank you for your cooperation.

Helping Hands Ministry

The Helping Hands Ministry is happy to report that they have been quietly working throughout our congregation. Thank you to all the dedicated volunteers! Small Group Info - Planning Ahead

We are depending on your interest response:
FOUNDATIONS OF FAITH - Leaders Cliff Rogell, Diane Rogell and JoAnn Calkins. This group is planned for right after Easter. Imagine how different your outlook on life would be if you had absolute confidence that God was with you. Image how differently you would respond to difficulties, temptations and even good things if you knew
God was in all of it and was planning to leverage for good. In other words, imagine what it would be like to just have increased faith in
every area of your life - family, healing, finances, career, etc. Learn to build your foundation.

More Planning Ahead. Your response for interest and preferred time is required to complete the planning:
1. Current events and their application to Bible History and Prophecy. Current news discussions in biblical perspectives. Led by Dave Cook and a co-leader.
2. A study on learning to pray. Leader Dave Cottle and a co-leader. Text not chosen yet.
3. Couponing, learning to save by couponing. Leader Eva Knight and a co-leader.

2015 giving envelopes are in the Fellowship Room. Please take a box for a friend or neighbor who is unable to come to church.

The Growth Project - Bringing people to Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit

What is the Growth Project?

Simply put, the Growth Project is SUMC’s effort to bring people from the Stroudsburg area to Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Scriptures tell us that Jesus came to seek and save the lost. He then commissioned all of his disciples (that includes me and you) to go into the world and do the same. Under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Gar Pollard the Growth Project has already experienced significant success. Nine people have given their hearts to the Lord so far! For more information call Pastor Pollard at 732-977-9599.

Have you asked the Spirit of God to dwell within you yet?
Why is the Growth Project Necessary?
Take a look around you on any given Sunday morning. Are our numbers increasing or decreasing? At the present attrition rate the membership of SUMC will decrease by at least 80 members over the next 10 years. While the purpose of the Growth Project is to bring people into God’s wider kingdom, the bi-product of our efforts will be that membership numbers at SUMC will increase.
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. John 3:3
Kingdom Prospecting
A number of years ago my son and I went prospecting for gold in Alaska. As we panned for the yellow stuff we didn’t really care how much black mud went over the sides of the pan. All we were looking for was a nugget of great value. This is also true as we move ahead with the Growth Project. We are prospecting for a single nugget, a single soul of much value. cgp

Make a Difference!

Give to a Mission

A variety of missions are supported in our church. You can make a difference both locally and around the world by giving to these missions. A list of missions we support is posted in the Fellowship Room. You can also suggest a new mission that interests you by providing the name and address of the mission, as well as some details about what this particular mission does.

Oasis of Love - Food Pantry

In addition to providing the needy with non-perishable food items, Oasis of Love now has a freezer in their facility to store frozen foods and dinners for individuals and families in our community. There are still boxes in the back of the sanctuary for non-perishables. If you would like to donate frozen foods as well, please contact me in the church office during the week. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! Jackie

Family Promise

We are hosting families the week of January 25. Sign up sheets are in the Fellowship Room. Please consider volunteering in some way. Thank you!
