"The Beauty of Creation"

The beauty of creation is astounding! The animals, birds, fish, plants, mountains, beaches, and everything is rich with colors and amazing sights! And yet, of all creation, humans are the best creation of all! Join us on Sunday as we conclude our sermon series on the Beauty of Creation. We will consider what place we humans have in creation and why God created us by looking more closely at the story in Genesis and in Psalm 8.

Helping Hands Ministry

The Helping Hands Ministry will provide help to those in our church family who find themselves in need for any number of reasons. Some members need a ride to a doctor's visit for a routine checkup. Others need rides to cancer treatments or to hear the results of a serious test. Another person might need some meals prepared for them during a time when they are recovering from surgery. Our desire is to be a good church family who helps each other out. We never know what might happen in life or when we, ourselves, might be in need of some help. Our job is not to pry into an individual's personal life, but to simply help them in a time of need. So, if you are willing to drive a person to an appointment or provide a simple meal for someone, please contact us. By doing these simple things we are, in fact, being the hands and feet of Jesus right here in our community! Please consider helping by getting involved in the Helping Hands Ministry!

Books, Books, Books!

There are many new books that have been added to the church library in the Lounge. Check them out! You may find a good "read"! Also, there are free books in the back of the sanctuary for anyone interested. Feel free to take one home with you after church this Sunday!

Backpacks for the 2012-2013 School Year

The Packs for Backs project is in its ninth year already. It has been so well received by the needy recipients and the number of young people that we service has really multiplied each year. We work with the Stroudsburg Council of Churches and Church Women United in distributing the materials to the children. Backpacks will be handed out on two different Wednesdays in August. The program continues all year so we collect during the school year also. We are gathering backpacks - the type that has two straps. The students ask for that kind and not the ones that are like a sling. The slings do not meet the pupils' needs because they are too small. We are requesting donations of traditional school supplies. We need glue sticks, glue, pens, pencils, crayons, washable markers, notebooks, tooth brushes and toothpaste, double pocket folders and notebook paper. Please avoid Trapper Keeper because they do not fit in the youngsters' desks. You may choose to bring the items to the First Presbyterian Church, 575 Main Street, Stroudsburg, Monday through Friday at their church office, between the hours of 9 am until noon. If you would like to make a contribution so that we can purchase the objects in bulk, please make a check payable to the Packs for Backs Project and mark the memo line with Packs for Backs. You may mail your tax deductible donation to Packs for Backs, in care of Margie Good, the chairperson of the project; and mail it to 1119 Beacon Hill Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301. Thank you so much for continuing to help make this endeavor a successful one.
