Walking Small Group

The Walking Small Group has ended the weekly walks on Monday evenings for the season due to the shorter days. The group will begin again in the Spring. The group had a great time and enjoyed seeing things around the Borough of Stroudsburg that one normally doesn't see when driving.

Small Groups

Do you belong to a Small Group? If not, you really should seriously consider doing so. There are a variety of opportunities available which you can see on our website here. You will be able to see brief description of each Small Group, view when and where they meet, and see if there are openings to join the groups. Check out our active Small Groups and consider joining one of them. Alternatively, do you have a passion or interest? Then maybe you can start a brand new Small Group. Contact JoAnn Calkins or Pastor Bob for more information.

Digging Deeper Small Group

The Digging Deeper Small Group meets on Tuesday evenings at 7pm. Meetings will resume on September 20 in the Conference Room beside Pastor Bob's study. This group will be starting a new video series entitled, "Keep Climbing: Why God Doesn't Give You Everything You Want."  This Small Group exists to dig deeper into our faith and grow spiritually. We do this through study, sharing our stories and experiences with each other, and hold each other up in love and mutual accountability. You can join this Small Group by emailing the leader, Pastor Bob, or calling the church office.

Stitch & Pray Small Group

The Stitch & Pray Small Group meets the first Wednesday of the month at 2:00 pm and the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm. Our next meeting is on October 5. Anyone is welcome and you do not have to know how to knit - we will teach you! So far we have completed 38 prayer shawls and we are now working on projects to sell at the Holiday Boutique in November.

Small Group Discussion: Gifts - the Joy of Serving God

What spiritual gifts do you have? What contributions can you make to the church, so that it becomes what God intends - a light in a dark world? How do you cultivate a servant's heart and your spiritual gifts without wiping yourself out int he process? Through spiritual exercise, bible study, and group discussions, this study will guide us to the answers. Consider joining us: Mondays at 7:00 pm - first meeting, October 17th in the church Lounge. For more information or to reserve your spot in the group, contact: Peggy Stewart 424-0625 or 350-8589.

The Connection

The Connection, the contemporary worship service that was held each Sunday at 3:00 p.m., has
been discontinued as of the end of August. This worship experience ran for almost four years. The
Connection was not growing like we hoped it would and it took a lot of time and effort to put it together
each week. The participants mostly consisted of those coming to the Soup Kitchen. Oftentimes we
started out with just a few people and then the group would slowly grow in numbers mostly so people
could get a good spot in the Soup Kitchen line. We had just a handful of regular worship attenders.
So we are taking a break and discontinuing The Connection worship.
Jeff and Audrey Weber and several other volunteers put a lot of time, effort, and energy into this
worship service. Without them The Connection would not have been possible. I thank each and every
person who had anything at all to do with this worship experience. It was a very good thing to do and
some very good things came out of it. We had a few new members join the church, we performed a
few baptisms, we sang praise songs that were uplifting and thought-provoking, and we created a
community of new believers that began to be concerned about and even prayed for each other.
Thank you again to each one of you who helped lead The Connection over the past four years. I
especially extend a grateful thank you to Jeff & Audrey Weber who took care of a lot of details and
made sure The Connection happened each and every week. Thank you both very much!
