Lessons in Stained Glass: "Jesus Teaching a Disciple"

Are you a student? Do you enjoy learning? This week we are looking at the stained glass which portrays Jesus teaching a disciple. Some of us mistakenly think that once we graduate from school all of our learning is over. This is not correct in the every-day world nor is it correct in our spiritual journey. Learning can be and often is an exciting process! How can we learn more about Jesus? How can we learn to apply our faith in tangible ways? How can we teach others about Jesus? Come to church this Sunday to explore learning with us!

The group will walk about two miles in approximately an hour at a comfortable pace so that everyone can participate in the group. These will not be power or brisk type of walking. We will walk along sidewalks of streets in the Borough of Stroudsburg or along easy trails such as the Brodhead Creek greenway. So get out your favorite pair of walking shoes and come out for some fun, exercise, and companionship. For more information contract C.J. Penwell.

A Course on World Religions

A course on World Religions will be offered in the Adult Sunday School class. The course will provide a factual overview of the five major world religions (Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, and Christianity). Each overview will provide information on a religion's background; sacred texts; and, major tenets of belief. Next, a comparison of each religion belief concerning God, Jesus, and Salvation will be presented. The course will examine the major beliefs of different Christian denominations. Additionally, the course examines some of the major religious influences on current international events. This course will be offered from 9:45 to 10:45 am every Sunday morning in the downstairs worship center, beginning May 22. The course will run from May 22 to August 28. Come for one, two, three, or all of the sessions. For additional information please contact Jeff Weber.

Packs for Backs

Packs for Backs is in its 8th year. Margie Good started the program and is the chairperson of it. They are gathering back packs, the type that has two straps. The children asked for this type of backpack. The sling types are too small. They are requesting donations of traditional school supplies such as glue sticks, glue, pens, pencils, crayons, washable markers, notebooks, tooth brushes & toothpaste, double pocket folders and notebook paper. Please avoid Trapper Keepers because they do not fit into the childrens' desks. You can bring your donations to the church and Pastor Ted will take them to the First Presbyterian Church. If you would like to give a monetary donation, please make your checks payable to: "Packs for Backs Project" and mark the memo line Packs for Backs. You may put your check in the offering plate or hand it in at the church office. Thank you for continuing to make this endeavor a successful one!
