Gather!

Lessons in Stained Glass: Let The Children Come to Me

We continue our sermon series on the stained glass windows in our church by looking at the window which features Jesus with the children. The disciples were disturbed and upset because people kept bringing so many children to Jesus. They didn't like this because they figured there were plenty of adult problems to address. How many times do we neglect children because we think our problems are more important? Jesus would have none of this. He said, "Let the children come to me, do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God." Children certainly have a place in the church and in the kingdom of God!

New Small Group!

A new Small Group has been started. A Walking Group will meet on Mondays at 7:00 PM at the Ann Street parking lot of the church. The group will walk about two miles in approximately an hour at a comfortable pace so that everyone can participate in the group. These will not be power or brisk type of walking. We will walk along sidewalks of streets in the Borough of Stroudsburg or along easy trails such as the Brodhead Creek greenway. So get out your favorite pair of walking shoes and come out for some fun, exercise, and companionship. For more information contract C.J. Penwell.

A Course on World Religions

A course on World Religions will be offered in the Adult Sunday School class. The course will provide a factual overview of the five major world religions (Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, and Christianity). Each overview will provide information on a religion's background; sacred texts; and, major tenets of belief. Next, a comparison of each religion belief concerning God, Jesus, and Salvation will be presented. The course will examine the major beliefs of different Christian denominations. Additionally, the course examines some of the major religious influences on current international events. This course will be offered from 9:45 to 10:45 am every Sunday morning in the downstairs worship center, beginning May 22. The course will run from May 22 to August 28. Come for one, two, three, or all of the sessions. For additional information please contact Jeff Weber.
