Current Sermon Series

Our current Sermon Series is focusing on "God in the movies." This sermon series focuses on God in the movies--some recent and some from years ago. We will see some clips from these movies and talk about what we see. This should offer an exciting and engaging way for us to talk about important theological issues regarding our relationship with God in today's terms. This week's sermon is based on the movie, "Facing the Giants." It is about a high school football coach with a mediocre record who's job is threatened. In addition, his car is falling apart, the player's parents are working to get him fired, and he discovers that he is the reason for his wife not becoming pregnant. The movie depicts this man's struggles and his attempts to overcome them through prayer and seeking God's help.

Digging Deeper Small Group

The Digging Deeper Small Group meets on Tuesday evenings at 7pm. They will be starting a new video series entitled, "Keep Climbing: Why God Doesn't Give You Everything You Want." This specific theme goes hand-in-hand with the second sermon in our current series, "God in the Movies: Bruce Almighty." This Small Group exists to dig deeper into our faith and grow spiritually. We do this through study, sharing our stories and experiences with each other, and hold each other up in love and mutual accountability. You can join this Small Group by emailing the leader, Pastor Bob, or calling the church office.

Any Interest in a Daily Study Guide?

Some churches use a part of their bulletin for worshippers to take notes during the sermon. One of our goals in worship is to teach new ideas and help us all grow spiritually. This is hard to accomplish in a twenty minute sermon! When I prepare for preaching each week's sermon I quickly realize that I acquire more information than I can reasonably use in the sermon given the time parameters. Do you think it would be a good idea to utilize this information in the form of a weekly study guide? After developing my sermon each week, I could write a short study guide that will share more in-depth information surrounding the sermon theme and content. This could be written up in a format that allows you to use the study guide in your daily devotions. If this is something you think is a good idea and one that you would find helpful, please respond by taking this short, 7-question survey.
