Palm Sunday Worship - 8:30am, 11:00am, & 3:00pm

Our theme in worship, 24 Hours that Changed the World, is both educational and spiritual. We have received many positive and encouraging comments about this sermon series. This week we have the challenging task of looking more closely at the details of Jesus' crucifixion. Relatively recent archeological discoveries are challenging traditional thinking and offfering new insights on how Jesus might have suffered his death on the cross. This week's sermon is entitled "The Crucifixion" and is based on the scriptures of Mark 15:25-39. We will examine the details of the crucifixion and consider what it all means to us today. Of course, we will also celebrate Palm Sunday with the waving of the palm branches and the processional with the donkey. You don't want to miss this exciting worship experience! Invite a friend to come and experience this worshipful event together!

Membership & Evangelism to Meet Tuesday Night at 7:00pm

M&E will be meeting on Tuesday night at 7:00pm. This group has the awesome responsibility to support, encourage, and care for our church members and also find ways to spread the word to invite others to join us as Christians. They find creative ways to encourage us all to reach out to welcome guests and visitors, and spread the Good News to our friends and neighbors. M&E is also organizing our Nursery to be staffed each Sunday during 11am worship.

Upcoming Sermon Series

Our upcoming Sermon Series will be different, fun, and spiritually engaging! The sermons after Easter Sunday will focus on God is in the movies--some recent and some from years ago. We will see some clips from these movies and talk about what we see. This should offer an exciting and engaging way for us to talk about important theological issues regarding our relationship with God in today's terms. The sermon series will also be an easy way for us to ask important religious questions in non-threatening and even non-churchy ways. Help us spread the word about our upcoming sermon series: God in the Movies.

Boy Scout Breakfast on Saturday

Troop 86 is hosting a tasty breakfast on Saturday starting at 6am. Come out and support the boys in the Troop! Your stomach will thank you.

Any Interest in a Daily Study Guide?

Some churches use a part of their bulletin for worshippers to take notes during the sermon. One of our goals in worship is to teach new ideas and help us all grow spiritually. This is hard to accomplish in a twenty minute sermon! When I prepare for preaching each week's sermon I quickly realize that I acquire more information than I can reasonably use in the sermon given the time parameters. Do you think it would be a good idea to utilize this information in the form of a weekly study guide? After developing my sermon each week, I could write a short study guide that will share more in-depth information surrounding the sermon theme and content. This could be written up in a format that allows you to use the study guide in your daily devotions. If this is something you think is a good idea and one that you would find helpful, please respond by taking this short, 7-question survey.

Make a Difference!

Blood Drive Today - April 11th - noon to 6pm

Stroudsburg UMC will host a Red Cross Blood Drive on Monday, April 11th from noon until 6pm. Blood is needed throughout the region, so please consider giving blood to help those in need. Jesus gave us the example by shedding his blood for us. Take a few minutes to share a pint of your blood with somebody else.

As was previously mentioned, Membership & Evangelism is organizing the Nursery to be staffed during worship at 11am on Sundays. If you are willing to volunteer to staff the nusery, please contact one of the M&E members or call the church office (570-421-6020). All volunteers must go through a child abuse and criminal background check. This is required as part of our Safe Sanctuaries Policy to ensure that the children are protected and also to put new parents' minds at ease. Please consider helping this important ministry!

My Brothers Keepers

My Brothers Keepers Quilting Group meets this week on Thursday at 10am in the Dining Room. This is an active group that makes a difference through their skills in quiliting! Join the group on Thursday morning and help to make a difference!

Stitch & Pray Small Group

The Stitch & Pray Small Group is meeting on Wednesday at 2pm. The prayer shawls are delivered to those persons going through tough times with their health and serve as a comforting reminder that they are being prayed for every day. For more information on how to join this small group or to provide names of those who could benefit by receiving a prayer shawl, please call the church office (570-421-6020).
